Khalsa Juniors U17 v RUGBY TOWN Juniors U17 Colts

Coventry & Warwickshire Youth League U17 Division B

Khalsa Juniors U17 6 – 3 RUGBY TOWN U17 COLTS (sponsored by Hi-Speed Services Ltd)

Colts more than matched Khasla in an end-to-end game on a difficult surface, but were on the wrong end of the scoreline.

Rugby started well and took the lead through Owen Hammond who neatly finished off a corner with the assistance of Jake Smith and Darek Kuberka.

Smith, Charlie Trayford, Luke Newey and Henry King battled well in midfield as Khalsa sought an equaliser. This came through a well-placed free kick giving Matthew Warburton no chance in goal. Khasla took advantage of the conditions with more long-range strikes to open a 4-1 half-time lead.

With the wind and slope in their favour, Town started the second half well. Defenders Robert Adams, Josh Greenwood, Freddie Stephenson and Adam Fry dealt well with Khasla’s breaks and Colts’ persistence was rewarded when Trayford forced in from a corner and Kuberka finished off a good move through the middle.

Colts continued to create chances with Fry providing some excellent passes into the front two of Newey and Kuberka, but were unable to complete the comeback their performance deserved. The game finishing 6-3 to Khalsa.
