Coventry & Warwickshire U7 / U8 Football League
Lions travelled to Leamington without injured Elijah Robinson, but in confident mood following some excellent team performances in 2018.
In good conditions, Lions had the benefit of the slope of the pitch in the first half and whilst Leamington started strongly, Lions battled hard to gain the advantage. A crisp, flowing, passing move between George Newbold and Aidan Lynch brilliantly set up Bobby Linnecor for a composed finish. Luke Chow and Ollie Broad were pulling the Leamington defence all over the place with their passing and running to set up chance after chance.
In the second half, Leamington came back strongly at the Lions in a far more even game. Charlie Whittle defended very bravely in the face of some robust challenges and Harry Marson brought off two superb saves as Leamington continued to press Lions up to the final whistle.
All players can be very proud of their efforts.
