Rugby Borough hosted Anstey Town FC on Saturday, looking to continue their unbeaten league campaign.

A tight first 15 minutes passed with neither side creating a clear attempt on goal, but eventually Borough broke out and took the lead in the 24th minute, when Gerard Mcgahey slotted home from a Joe Henderson flick.

The goal settled the home side down somewhat, and it was just a few minutes before the lead was increased by Joe Henderson, after latching on to a long pass and shrugging off two defenders to lob the keeper with a great touch.

Anstey worked hard to create chances, getting close, but not reaching the net.

Borough made it 3-0 on the stroke of half time with Ollie Chater scoring a diving header from Gerard Mcgahey, following it through to the back of the net!

Half time 3-0.

Ryan Byrne made his comeback from injury replacing Will Heath, himself unknowingly injured earlier with a fractured hand.

Rugby struck early in the second half, mirroring the teamwork at the end of the first, with McGahey assisting and Chater finishing.

The home side were in full control of the match now, and quickly made it 5 -0 through Luke Pritchard and a sublime finish from a tight angle pass via Ollie Chater.

Joe Henderson was replaced by Luis Corcoran and Joe Taplin was replaced by Ryan Conneely.

Ollie Chater had a chance to score his hat trick but his penalty kick was wide and hit the post.

Borough scored once more, late on, when Luis Corcoran slotted home after an impressive run from Kane Finney.

Full Time 6 -0

Another comfortable win for the Borough as they march on at the top of the league.
