The Pumas (sponsored by Ideal Factory) entered The amount Nod tournament hoping to continue the good form that they have demonstrated in previous weeks. The tournament was a round robin between us, Mount Nod, FC Rascals, Warwick Juniors, Chetwynd and St Finbarrs.

The tournament started well, with our strongest team performance at the start, with four goals coming from some excellent passing and movement off the ball, subsequent matches that we played were not at the same intensity or quality as fatigue & heat took their toll. However we finished with 3 wins and 2 draws, topping the group on goal difference.

Into the semi’s against Warwick Juniors it was a goalless draw at full time, so we entered 3 minutes of extra time. The Pumas knew this was their chance and despite weary legs put in an excellent display to score the winning goal with seconds to spare. The final saw us meet FC Rascals (who had just beaten Mount Nod on penalties), and again this was a good and very competitive match, with FC Rascals taking the lead with about 5 minutes to spare. The Pumas used every last drop of energy, and won a free kick in the dying seconds following a scything tackle on Alex Duffy, this was well taken and resulted in a penalty and an opportunity to take the match into extra time. Unfortunately the penalty was not converted and The Pumas lost their second tournament final.

This was a great effort from the boys, as they played excellent football and achieved this without any subs in the searing heat.
