The Pumas were always going to have a tough day, facing the best teams in The Midlands, but that didn’t stop them taking a few scalps on their way! Despite the withdrawal of a team at short notice, the tournament was rearranged to be a round robin tournament of 7 teams.

The Pumas started well pressing Firefighters and took a well deserved lead , only to have that equalised with their last kick of the match. Then Aylesford followed, a frustrating 0-0 draw, as The Pumas hit the woodwork and tested their goalie into a fine penalty save. Next the grudge match vs Rugby Town Boys, The Pumas took an early lead through a deflected goal and looked in control, but The Boys managed to gain some rhythm through their strong passing game and beat The Pumas 2-1. The lack of wins knocked The Pumas confidence and we lost 3–2 to Athletic United (with 2 goals from Charley B), but then beat semi-final qualifying team Hinckley with 3 excellent goals, one Mr B again, another from our now outfield playing goalie Ollie and a thunderbolt from Lowan! Finally we played the eventual tournament winners Santos, who we had a good match against but they were slightly too strong…

Excellent effort from the boys throughout tournament and we look forward to more tournaments over the summer…
