U 10 Pumas v St Finbarrs. Autumn Cup – Sunday 23 September 2018

Rugby Town U10 Puma’s sponsored by Ideal Factory hosted St Finbarrs in the first Autumn Cup match. The later start meant the rain had disappeared creating excellent conditions for playing football and allowing the boys from both sides to demonstrate their technical abilities.

The match was competitive but played in good spirits, as both sides looked to play out from the back, building up the pitch, and The Puma’s were able to push high on Finbarrs, allowing them little time on the ball. This created a rare opportunity for Giane to push into The Finbarr’s half, and once he beat the defender he was able to unleash (toe poke) his right foot! The continued pressure on Finbarrs resulted in two penalties being awarded for unfortunate hand-balls in the box. Finbarrs regained their shape and The Puma’s lost theirs in the final minutes of the first half to concede. The second half saw Finbarr’s put pressure on The Puma’s, and take the lead with some well worked goals, but The Puma’s kept battling and were also rewarded with goals later in the second half.
